GANGERS

Life in the Páramo is tough, and if you don’t want to or can’t stay in a settlement, it’s normal to form groups.

Gang members are possibly the faction you are most likely to encounter in this area of the Páramo, ranging from bands of looters to vigilantes.

There are groups who raid settlements and raid travellers for bullets and petrol, some who act as mercenaries, running errands for chieftains or simply guarding the outskirts of a settlement, and others who roam the Wasteland as free spirits, using the strength of the group to give themselves a better chance of survival.

They are the best fighters and have more firearms than any of the other factions.

Organisation

Most gangs are organised based on seniority and fighting ability. Those who cannot fight will end up dead sooner rather than later, so even novices are better fighters than most of the inhabitants of the Wasteland. Veterans occupy a prominent position in the gang and are respected by all.

The leader must earn his position on his own merits; here, nothing is achieved through political manoeuvring or blood ties. Although there are differences, and some gangs value leadership skills more highly, while others focus strictly on physical strength, and the boss can be challenged for his position, no gang leader will be someone who cannot prove that he deserves it.

Some gangs follow their own distinct style, such as wearing the same type of clothing, sporting identifying tattoos or shaving half their heads. Others are completely heterogeneous, with no need to display any tribal markings.

They are usually nomadic bands, trying to obtain resources throughout the Páramo, although some have a small settlement as a base, where they can rest from time to time or train new recruits.
