In this article we will teach you how to create punkapocalyptic shanties cheaply and easily. <\/p>\n\n

The first step is to get a solid surface on which all the elements will be glued, which will be the skeleton of the shanty. You can use a leftover box, a piece of expanded polystyrene (the usual foresp\u00e1n, polystyrene or white cork) and even create it with wood. We chose to buy some boxes from a Chinese store (or Asian supplier, as our friends at Scratch Attack <\/a>would say). <\/p>\n\n

The boxes not only serve as a skeleton, but also have fun colors to liven up the work \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n

The boxes are made of fairly solid cardboard, but they allow you to cut them, and be able to cut out and make the interior without problems if you wish. In addition, they cost between \u20ac0.60 and \u20ac1.00, so they are not expensive, and they have a good variety of sizes so we can make the shanties larger or smaller. To create the skeleton we just have to remove the lid and turn them upside down. We can add a wooden base to give them more stability or not, it depends on what we want. In our case we did it, since in some we wanted to join some beams to the floor and we would do it on the base. <\/p>\n\n

Already glued on the base. One of the houses will be a kind of open garage or warehouse, so we cut it out, allowing the interior to be seen. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n

The next step is to start gluing things on top of them. The nice thing about these types of buildings is that they are supposed to be made from whatever materials the Wasteland inhabitants find, so they allow you to use a lot of things. The most common is corrugated cardboard. To do this, you must take a box that uses it (which is almost all of them) and peel off the smooth part, leaving only the wavy part, making sure that there is no residue left. There is another simpler option, and that is to buy corrugated cardboard, which is sold in some bookstores and even in shopping centers. These do not have to be peeled and they also come in several different colors, so you can even use one as a base for painting. <\/p>\n\n

In this one we have mixed cardboard and cardboard, since they have different sizes and give a less homogeneous appearance. We also added a little tin foil, a little mesh from a large piece bought in the Chinese, and a strip of wood. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n

The rest of the materials to be glued depends on your imagination. We use sheets of tin, pieces of cut table calendars (which amounts to plasticard), pieces of wood, scenery from the box of remains that almost all of us have, plastic meshes… The point is to glue them randomly until the entire skeleton of the shanty is covered. <\/p>\n\n

Finally, a little gravel would be added to the roof to give it the neglected look, and also to the base if you have decided to use it. The possibilities are enormous.
As you can see, you can either find almost all the materials for free, or they are extremely cheap. If you want to spend a little money, you can buy a piece of railway modelling. Some U-shaped beams, plasticard sheets with a textured metal floor, etc. may be useful… They may seem a little expensive, but you will realize that they are enough for many shanties, and for about \u20ac10 you can give them a much cooler final touch. <\/p>\n\n

After this the only thing left is to paint them. The idea is to give it a heterogeneous appearance, so we will try not to repeat too many colors between the different pieces of each shanty. The easiest way is to use a dry brush and inks for the elements. Although of course, if you are more handy you can look for even more sophisticated effects. <\/p>\n\n
